Quick answers to the most common queries from London riders.
Yes. UK law requires a valid full or provisional driving licence (category Q) to ride an e-scooter on public roads. You must upload a photo of your licence during registration. Riders under 18 are not permitted.
You can end your ride in any legal parking spot within the operating zone — cycle racks, designated bays, or pavement areas where parking is allowed. Do not block pedestrian crossings, driveways, or bus stops. The app shows no-parking zones in red.
Each scooter shows its battery level in the app before you unlock. If you run low during a ride, you can end the trip and switch to another scooter nearby. Our team swaps batteries nightly — you rarely see a dead scooter in central London.
Every ZapRide scooter has a single-use hygienic helmet liner stored in the basket. We recommend always wearing a helmet. Weekly pass holders can request a free reusable helmet delivered to their address.
If you park illegally (e.g. on a double yellow line or blocking a dropped kerb), the fine is your responsibility. We send a warning via the app. Repeated violations may result in a temporary ban. Always check the parking guidance in the app.
Yes, the scooters are weather-resistant (IP54 rated). However, we advise caution on wet roads — reduce speed and avoid sharp turns. In heavy storms or ice, we may temporarily pause operations for safety. You'll get a push notification if service is suspended.
